Bilders schilderde dit paneeltje in de buurt van Lochem in Gelderland. Hij was vooral gefascineerd door de kleuren van de natuur en probeerde deze zo dicht mogelijk te benaderen. Hier gaat het om het effect van de zonsondergang. Die wordt weerspiegeld in de plas, terwijl de takken van de bomen zich in silhouet aftekenen tegen de lucht.
Bilders painted this small panel in the vicinity of Lochem in the province of Gelderland. He was fasci-nated by the colours of nature and tried to recreate them as closely as possible. This painting is about the effect of the sunset, which is mirrored in the pond. The branches of the trees stand out starkly against the glowing sky.
